The JDC Invitational began in 2000 as the Jay Denning Classic (JDC). Matt “Jay” Denning wanted a way to get his out of town friends to come up and visit Madison. His new friends and coworkers in Madison wanted yet another reason to golf!
The whole event was so small that naming it after himself (not even his REAL name mind you) and calling it “a classic”, was Jay’s way of having a laugh at the complete lack of seriousness with which the group approached the event.
From there the tournament has grown from year to year to include co-workers, friends, spouses and anyone who enjoys golf.
In 2006, we realized that the people who were already excited about the event would surely pay a few extra dollars if they knew it would benefit a good cause.
Considering the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is a charity our group of friends already supports, the choice to use the outing to raise money for them was easy!
Over the course of it's existance, the JDC has raised over $25000 for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
We still don’t take the golf very seriously!
